Official Statement

            I have been made aware of the untrue and unfounded allegations made against me by my opponent, that my decision to run was to help the incumbent by splitting the women’s vote.  Not only are these allegations false, but these allegations are being used to undermine my presence, silence my campaign, and are the very reason why I have decided to run for Justice Court.

            I am a defender of the Constitution and I do not take elections lightly.  I am my own person, a proud African American woman, an independent thinker, and no one has forced or persuaded me to do anything.  I am no one’s puppet.  I did not and have not had a conversation with the incumbent about my decision to run and he did not influence my decision in any way.  To say the contrary, is the systematic racism that I have had to stand up against my entire life, and that is what led to my decision to run; to be a voice for the voiceless, as my opponent is trying to make me, voiceless.  As the only African American running for Justice of the Peace in Las Vegas, it is shameful that I have to address such baseless allegations.  However, because I am not encompassed by scandal and contradictions, this is the only lie that can be fabricated against me.

My entire career as an attorney has been the epitome of professionalism and hard work.  I have not had to change my name and take on a new identity to instill the trust and confidence from my clients.  The way that I have instilled the trust and confidence in my clients is by dedication, working hard, and giving every case the time and attention it needs to adequately and competently defend my clients’ Constitutional rights.  That is what I will do as a Justice of the Peace; make sure that every person that comes into my courtroom, whether they are a victim, defendant, witness, or attorney, is heard and their case is treated with the care, dedication, and the attention it needs.
